NOTE
Be advised that the requirements for becoming a presenter of Operation Lifesaver's rail safety message has changed. Effective April 1, 2015, all presenters must be Operation Lifesaver Authorized Volunteers (OLAV) Regardless of how few or many presentations you have made in the past for North Carolina Operation Lifesaver, you must now be an OLAV from April 1, 2015 forward.
Don't worry, the process is straightforward.
1. Register your intent to be an OLAV by clicking on this link and completing the on-line form:
Application Form
2. After you have received an email notice from OLI and a link in an email from your state coordinator, you must go to the link and successfully complete the Authorized Volunteer e-Learning (AVE) course. You do not have to complete it in one session; you may save your progress at any time and return later. However, the link is only active for 30 days, so you must complete the course before the 30 days are up.
3. After successfully completing the AVE, you will receive a notice from OLI confirming your successful completion and informing you that you will need to attend a Face-to-Face meeting with your state coordinator and other applicants. Your state coordinator will schedule such meetings as dictated by demand, possibly in different parts of the state to minimize volunteers' travel.
4. After successfully completing the Face-to-Face meeting, your state coordinator will notify OLI and you will received final confirmation on your OLAV status from OLI.
